The firm employs 37 staff, all of which has a professional qualification or is actively working towards their qualification. They are also dedicated to providing excellent service through their commitment and dedication to achieve and make your business the success it deserves to be.

Neil Wilson
Neil joined the practice in 1975 having qualified with the Liverpool office of Chalmers Impey. He became a partner in 1978 and Senior Partner in 1992. He specialises in accounting for solicitors and the entertainment industry.


Alastair Gould
Alastair joined McEwan Wallace in 1973. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1978 and subsequently qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser in 1979. Alastair has been a partner for twenty years and is the firms Managing Partner. He is also responsible for the marketing and the development of the Practice.

In recent years he has been heavily involved in Corporate Financial advice, assisting clients with both the purchase and sale of their companies. He has a wealth of experience dealing with owner-managed businesses and particularly the problems they face with taxation and succession planning.


Alan Richards
Alan joined McEwan Wallace in 1972. He trained and qualified as a chartered accountant with McEwan Wallace and became a partner in 1990. Alan is the firm’s tax and IT partner and has more than twenty-five years experience dealing with owner-managed businesses. Alan specialises in the medical sector.


Paul Cochrane
Paul joined McEwan Wallace in 1990, and was made a partner in April 1992. He started his career with the Inland Revenue, moving on after six years to pursue a career in accountancy. After graduating with an honours degree in accounting and finance, he joined the Liverpool office of Chartered Accountants, Grant Thornton in 1984. He qualified as a chartered accountant in 1987 and took up a management position with KPMG, the international firm of chartered accountants and management consultants.

Paul is the firms audit partner and has a wealth of experience dealing with technical matters. He is an accredited expert witness with the Law Society and provides expert accounting evidence in support of litigation. He is Honorary Secretary and Executive Committee member of the Liverpool Society of Chartered Accountants.


Liz Barnes - Senior Tax Manager
Liz has worked in tax for over 15 years, after initially graduating in Law in 1989. She qualified as a Chartered Tax Advisor in 1993, and has worked for many international firms, including PKF and Grant Thornton. Liz specialises in the owner-managed sector, covering both corporate and personal tax issues. She joined McEwan Wallace in September 2004, and has become a real asset to the firm.


Anne Stubbs - Senior Audit Manager
Anne joined the firm in 1993 and trained with the Association of Accounting Technicians, qualifying in 1994. She passed her final examinations with the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants in June 1999 and is now fully qualified.

Anne, who was promoted to Senior Audit Manager in September 2001, has worked on a range of the firms audit clients. However, her strength has been the larger audits on which she acted as senior auditor, prior to her promotion. As manager, she is now able to carry on the client relationships, which she has developed.


Nicky Barber - Accounts Manager
Nicky joined the firm in 1987 and trained with the Association of Accounting Technicians, qualifying in 1992. After thirteen years with McEwan Wallace, Nicky left in May 2000 to raise her family. She returned to the firm at the beginning of 2003 as an Assistant Manager, and became Accounts Manager in April 2005. Nicky has a wide range of experience gained by working on all sizes of clients in a range of different trades and professions.


Kris Billington - Audit Manager
After graduating with an honours degree in Accounting and Finance, Kris qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 1996. He joined McEwan Wallace in 1997 and progressed to work as Senior Auditor on a number of large and complex jobs. In 2002 he passed his Financial Planning Certificate, worked on a number of large company sales and took on a more technical role.

As Audit Manager, Kris still takes an active part in a number of audits, building upon the strong professional relationships he has developed.


Clare Revill - Marketing Coordinator
Clare has worked in marketing for over 6 years, after graduating with an honours degree in Marketing and Applied Psychology. She will continue the successful promotion and development of the firm.


Matthew Ryan - Manager
Matthew joined McEwan Wallace in 1999. He studied for the Association of Accounting Technician examinations and qualified as an Accounting Technician in 2002. Matthew then continued his studies and qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 2005.

As a manager, Matthew still takes an active part in the preparation of accounts, and has specialised in engineering companies for several years.

His specialist skills include SAGE implementation and training.
